Speech

As I am sitting outside of Colts speech therapy appointment I get to listen in and it has been a rough day at speech.  He loves going to see his speech therapist and normally enjoys his 45 minutes with her.  Today was not that day!

They have a system, he works (practices words) then he gets to play with a toy.  This goes back and forth during his session.   Today they were working on words  like Ohio, animal, piano and other 3 syllable words.  After doing a few words he would get to put a piece in the puzzle.  The puzzle they were doing was the letters and 123's.  Now my son is one to do things in order, I think he might be a little OCD already.  His speech therapist was giving him pieces out of order, instead of giving him the 1 she would give him the 3 to put in.  Colt did not like this at all!  He would keep on saying "I want 1".  Of course this didn't work on his therapist like it does on mommy and daddy.  She would keep giving him the out of order numbers and he would cry like the world was ending.  She did not give up even though he was having a crying fit most of the class.   BUT, by the end of class he was back to normal and didn't seem to mind doing the puzzle out of order.  So I guess I know what else we need to work on at home besides words.

Here is some great free worksheets that can be printed off and used at home. We will be using these once we move to Indy as we will no longer be doing speech.
